So I've been given a lot of latitude with this one, and I'm trying to go a few extra miles to make it special. It is after all, a winner.
Anyway I thought I'd leave it till towards the end to post pictures and have it be somewhat of a surprise but then realized I'll have to spend an extra two days on this one (even without hold ups which always happen) because of what I want to do with it so...nah.
So here's the knife, very nicely brought to life by JK Knives
Incredibly ergonomic design by the contest winner
Now my thing, picked out some handle materials, worked pins and holes till they fit
Cut scale materials into needed pieces
Check 'em for fit
I'm essential trying to build some scales here out of the three pieces, more preparation (hence the 2 extra days) but a lot less trouble later on when it comes to cutting sanding and fitting it all together. The liner material helps me to do it this way by making a backing for the wood outer parts, but also needs more preparation. I'm scuffing up all the edges that will be secured together so give some gaps and space for the glue/epoxy to cling onto.
lots of work to do
But I think this combo will make a nice package and it better because...
I'm honestly limited by the number of clamps I have right now, doh! So while this one has finished curing I'm going to get the second scale set prepped and clamped tonight. Hence two extra days.
So I'm going down there to do some more work, see you later.
I have them both ready now.
Time for some pin holes.
Discovered I'm out of 100 grint belts...have to put it on hold for a day or two till I can get some more supplies. Sorry folks!
Back in Business!
Took forever to get here, but I looked in the local hardware store and none of them had the size I needed so just had to wait for shipping to get done.
Lets get back to work.
Sorry about this but I got pretty sick for the last two days, started to feel better last night and wen ahead and finished it, didn't get any more in progress pictures though, just didn't want to slow up anymore to take them
Need and address for shipping,
thanks again and congrats on a great design :)
